2022-08-14 07:04:00 | How do I connect via the Ethernet? . Depends on the drive, some have various options as well as Ethernet to work over the LAN. Some do some don't, normally the more expensive ones do ;) My own system(s) PC under TV Connected via HDMI operated by wireless KB/Mouse if required or by remote desktop. (windows 11 - upgraded from W10) Various Sources, External HDD Actually connected to another PC, but mainly 3 different PC's / Servers out in the workshop, ( so working over LAN) all can computers can play from them, includes Music, Videos, Movies, (music Videos from youtube) The PC under the TV has a several media players (at least 8) But mainly use JRiver jriver.com that's set to open in full screen mode when computer is started. It pulls what ever I have linked from the sources and plays flawlessly. Including Youtube, TV on Demand etc. One of main reasons I use that is it is so versatile and can use the Old Media Centre Remote I brought years ago :D. (the programs not free but does have a trial) Remote Same as this, (not named gateway) i.ebayimg.com Back on topic --- If you have Audio lag or disconnections esp for the time described (and its not a bad recording) its often caused by underpowered devices, OR how they are being played / Connected. Edited: You have to remember a TV is only a display, it wont compensate for underpowered or unstable /incorrectly configured delivery devices.

2022-08-14 07:10:00 | Sony Bravia has RGB & Audio L+R as well. Drop the HDMI and connect via one of the other inputs. | zqwerty (97) | |
2022-08-14 19:00:00 | My model Bravia 55x9000h doesn't have those connections, only HDMI and USB. | Bryan (147) | |
2022-08-14 22:18:00 | Sorry, I didn't know there were so many different models/variations and the one for NZ doesn't have the connections I thought it would have. | zqwerty (97) | |
2022-08-14 23:31:00 | Going back to original post you mentioned One of my PCs I have decided to use as a media source attached to a Sony Bravia 55x9000h TV. The PC is an Asus P67 Sabertooth with a Gigabyte Windsong GTX970 GPU. I have attached an external drive containing music videos via an HDMI cable. Do you mean the External Drive is connected directly to the TV by HDMI ??? If so that will cause problems, as most External drives are not meant to be connected that way, even some connecting to a TV Via USB wont work. Have a read --- From a Sony Bravia TV user www.makeuseof.com READ ALL QUESTIONS AND REPLIES. You would be better off Connecting the External Drive to the PC Via USB, and using the TV like a big monitor, selecting your Favorite Media Player, just open the player - Play Folder (Enlarge to full Screen if wanted) and all music Videos play one after the other or most players have a Random option. Note some players wont play a folder, but MANY do :D

2022-08-15 00:02:00 | Thanks WT. I have tried to connect the Ext HDD directly to the TV using supposedly its USB 3. To attach a 500gb with about 300GB of files the drive takes an age to load, maybe up to 10 minutes. My previous Sony Bravia loaded virtually instantaneously. This newer model is such a pain for such things. The Ext HDD is attached to the PC in a USB 3 port. The PC is attached via an HDMI cable to the TV. Now, the latest is that I have copied some music videos to an SSD drive and used it a an internal drive. When playing the files back, same sound problem. I can only think that there might be a problem of the GPU talking to the TV. I intend to replace the GPU with another lesser model and see if that works. At present I am using an even older PC with a Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 M/B and a GT760 GPU running Win10 Pro and I have no problems at all. Also I have previously used a Sony Blu-ray player attached to the TV by HDMI and it to loads very quickly, only problem with the Blu-ray is the remote is not too friendly to use when wanting to move to new files etc. I suppose I can therefore live with these two options but I would have liked to get the more grunty PC working.

2022-08-15 00:58:00 | There's another thing to try (if you haven't already) . Try changing the HDMI port on the TV, According to the manual, port 3 is ARC . Sometimes have seen problem if its not used other times it can also cause a problem . 11365 Something to check -- Make sure the Audio is going to the correct playback . In W11 -- From Search, type in "Sound Settings" It will open the location to tell you where is going where . Try disabling Hardware Acceleration -- had problem with My media years ago, disabling that solved several problems . These are just picking at straws suggestions .

2022-08-15 23:15:00 | I have to wonder! My wonder is if my 2020 Sony Bravia 55x9000h has been changed from earlier models and is unable to cope with the power (speed) of and SSD. When I use a PC with an SSD I have the problem of losing sound for a second every 50 odd seconds. Using another PC with an internal mechanical HDD there is no problem. I will now endeavour to prove my theory by adding a mechanical HDD to the PC that has the problem. Knowing me however this theory is probably very wrong. | Bryan (147) | |

Sometimes the only way to find out something (even if its to rule something out) is suck it and see what happens. :D Best way would be to image the SSD, then drop that onto the Mechanical drive, that way everything is the same except the Actual drive. If you did a fresh install you very well may not recreate the actual problem. By doing a fresh install you are changing at least 3 things 1. The OS install, 2. Hardware, 3. Programs. If it works OK on a fresh install what was the cause 1,2 or3 ? |
