| 1488189 | 2022-09-01 00:46:00 | I've been using Minitool free wizard to copy the OS from old laptops to a new SS drive. Just tried to do that for my brother-in-law and at the finish up pops a webpage with buy now on it, and it won't let me go any further. I'm going from a 500GB hard drive to a 250GB ssd, which MT used to do well. Any suggestions on other free programs to use please. Am using Macrium free for imaging my main pc but it doesn't look like it'll do an os transfer to another smaller SSD. Thanks. |

| 1488191 | 2022-09-01 01:44:00 | The Free version of Minitool still works and downloads fine. Just tried it. Did you untick the boxes to install the pro instead, as well as untick the two boxes that install Additional Programs ?? Heres a quick Video showing what I was referring to. Its done in Windows sandbox ( trying out a screen capture program I came across yesterday) Video streamable.com And Macrium will resize partitions as well. This is pending deletion so may not work if left to long but I can always reload it. :) streamable.com Then you can use minitool to resize to fill in / Expand any spare areas afterwards. |

| 1488192 | 2022-09-01 20:44:00 | Thanks wainuitech. I might have not unticked the last two boxes. Will reinstall and try again. Have used MT a lot but sometimes these things slip past me! Just downloaded the free one again and reinstalled on my main pc. Unticked all the boxes and tried to copy my os to a new samsung ssd. At the finish box up pops the web page asking for registration. |

That would be because parts of the previous install were still there. When uninstalling (normal methods) they always leave traces behind and that's what will be triggering registration. Really they need removing with something revo-uninstaller in advanced mode and remove all reg keys as folders left behind :) |

| 1488195 | 2022-09-13 20:20:00 | wainuitech, I'll carry on here to save starting a new thread! Daughter In law found an old apple laptop in her cleanout. Insurance job,so she was chucking it out, gave it to me. I've taken the hard drive out,run MacDrive and HsfExplorer, both of which can't see any files on the hard drive. Windows ( Device manager )and Minitool both see the drive. Shows as 450Gb full. ( one partition of 3) Does that mean the files on the drive are no more? Thanks. |

Try Booting the windows Computer from a Live Linux CD with the MAC HDD Attached see if that reads or shows the MAC Drive contents. |
