Up until recently, my connection speed through my dial up modem was SLOW!! - up to 37,000bps but normally 32,000bps!! I tried different DUN speed up software but that didn't help my connection speed. After speaking to my previous ISP's techo I now achieve 52,000bps by the following procedure. I disconnected another phone (bedroom connection) that latched onto the back where the modem is connected and disconnected the main phone leaving the modem as the only line connection. Since the phone is occupied by the computer anyway and incoming calls can be left on Telecom's Call Minder, this allows the modem to reach it's full connection potential and faster web surfing plus download speeds on average of 5.5 to 6.5 kilobytes per sec. |
