I have brought an old second hand Western Digital Caviar 4240 and I'm trying to get it working on my old 386 but it won't register in the Cmas. I think the problem is that there are insufisent drive paremeters in my 386es Cmos settings it requires you to enter the cyls., heads, sectors, precomp and landzone and from which it works out the total MB. The parameters on the drive are 989 cyl (cyls. I think), 15 heads, 56 spt (I geused it was sectors) and 425.6 mb. I enter that and leave precomp and landzone at 0 but it works out the size at 405 mb and it doesn't work on boot up. Can anyone help? |
