8494 2001-02-08 07:27:00 I had noticed several times, that Zip Disks certainly do not always hold a full 100 MB as they are advertised. And then in the Feb issue of PCWorld, I read about what the problem might be: too much stuff in the root directory [of the Zip].

My question is: Does this apply to Hard Drives also?
(not that I'd put loads of stuff in the root directory, but I'm just curious....) :-)

cheers All.

8495 2001-02-08 08:41:00 I read somewhere that it is best to keep the root directory as clean as possible & no more than 256 files....Also you will also loose HD space with something called 'slack space' fat 16 has a lot of wasted space, Fat 32 is better, if you have lots & lots of files the slack space will increase, not a lot you can really do about it anyway...
