8445 2001-02-08 11:43:00 If this card is in a PC Direct machine, it sounds familiar.
If yes, do the following;
Uninstal all sound software you've installed(That is run a 'uninstall' if it's possible) from the driver files or from add/remove software under control panel. Remove the devices from system devices (click on system under settings>control panel)
next shut down and remove the MODEM, yep thats right the modem!
Next boot up and instal drivers for the sound card when windows asks for them during booting. It may detect the card at this stage. If it doesn't have a look in the driver files for a setup.exe file after windows has completed starting up and run this program.
If either of the above are not happening/possible you will need to get hold of ICU (Interupt Configuration Utility) DYLA ( Don't you love accronyms) software which is a boot up utility to 'help' windows assign resources for non plug and play cards. You'll need to instal this and run the program, use the readme file for assistance.
If this is succesful and you have completed installing the software/drivers for the sound card then shut it down and replug the modem and let windows reinstal the modem at the next boot up.
If this still fails my advice.... THROW OUT that card and get a real Plug and Play card like a Diamond S100. It will save you hours of misery.
Last comment, older Yamaha cards can be a real pain in the arse and often create resource conflicts that windows, especially win 95, can't cope with. Also there is more than one driver you will find for the YMF719 chipset BUT my experience is you need the 'right' one.
If it is a PC Direct Machine contact Gateway for a driver Disc,(www.gateway.com.au) supplied on CD ROM (Covers all PC Direct cards and models.

8447 2001-02-08 19:16:00 Hello Silver
The error message you are receiving, usually occurs when either you have to many old files in your C:\Windows\Temp folder or your hard drive itself is getting low on space.
Deciphered the message is telling you that setup does not have enough room to expand all of the files needed to setup the driver utility.
The normal remedy is to delete all files from your
C:\Windows\Temp folder and run setup again.
or create more space on your C:\drive, I think the first applies in your case.

8448 2001-02-09 10:42:00 some hewlett packards do the same, there is a chip inside the comp which reads the recovery disk and loads only the drivers that come with it, if you try and mix and match different hardware and software and attempt to load it on then it rejects it, i rang hp when i tried to install a new modem and was told that only a few brands could be used, the recovery disk will only let you install new hardware in a fixed parameter unless u get the proper version of whatever operating system you are using Guest (0)
8449 2001-02-10 12:11:00 i have taken out a few old files of the computer, and this seems to have fixed the problem downloading but i get a hardware error code 24, conflict in the computer does anyone know how to fix this i dont know what my machine is its a bister and doesnt have a brand name on it, i think its just something conflicting in the computer probably pnp bios, and the sound card, pnp bios does not have the drivers installed under 'system board extension for pnp bios' could this be the rouble it has a yellow exclamation mark on the hardware profile, and how do i fix it??? 8450 2001-02-10 19:34:00 Hello Silver
Have you actually installed the drivers you downloaded??.
You need to click on the listing with the yellow exclamation mark to highlight it,then click on properties,
then driver then click on update driver you will need to show windows where you extracted the exe file,Windows should then load the correct drivers and your problems should be over.
If it still comes up with an error you probably have a conflicting device the Modem would be my guess, repost and I'm sure someone wil help you.
