8458 2001-02-08 00:38:00 Well!!... 'PC Doctor'...it seems that my adaptech cd-rom drive is throwing wobblies.

Every-time I load a cd into the drive..it spins up as normal...ready to read.... and then the computer clicks off...black screen..and re-boots.

This is most annoying...as all i want to do is access the Pc World disc!!.

What in your humble opinion would you say the likely cause would be.

Also what thearapy do I need to apply to the blessed cd-rom drive in order to get it to behave!!!.

Thanks...I look forward to your reply?.

8459 2001-02-08 10:21:00 Do all CDS cause this or just the PC world one ??
If all do it it looks like your CDrom has 'died' the only reasonable fix is a new one they tend to be not worth trying to fix

If its Just the PC world one then ask PC world for another CD.

8460 2001-02-09 01:30:00 Hi Bryan...thanks for your reply..this morning I decided to delete a lot of unnecessary programs. The up-side of this was that when I tried to access the cd-rom drive again..everything worked O.K.

I can only assume that there was some sort of conflict going on with one or more of the now deleted programs!.

Thanks for your reply....much appreciated.

Thanks ....Blair.
