| 8624 | 2001-02-12 02:01:00 | My system has become temperemntal on start up. Sometimes it stops with the on screen message 'Primary Hard Disk Fail' but on swithing the power off completely and trying again it will boot normally. At times it takes several attempts before it will boot up. It has been suggested to me that it could be caused by the BIOS battery gradually failing. Is this a possibility, or is it just wishfull thinking hoping it isn't the HD dying!? The HD is a 4.3 Gig Samsung and the system runs Windows 98. | Guest (0) | ||

It was an older system with indipendent IO card most are now intergrated on MB so are not replaceable -Just another option for you. Oh try unplug the IO cable and replug in (its a cheap try) you could even try a new IO cable. YOu can usually tell the bios battery is going by your system clock lossing time. |
