8742 2001-02-15 00:23:00 Have a Canon BJC 2000SP printer about 6 months old. Are refills cost effective, who refills them. Cost of refilling. How often can one be refilled. Can refills damage the machine (have been told this is so) Scanners - I believe there is a cartidge that takes the place of the printing cartridge and does a good job, really only need it for photos. Is it worth it or is a proper scanner best. Thanks. Iris Guest (0)
8743 2001-02-15 10:09:00 Hello Iris

Refills certainly are cost effective, the ones I refill work out around 30% to 40% of the cost of a new one the quality of the Inktec brand that I supply is guaranted as good as the original cartridge.
The amount of times a cartridge can be refilled before replacement is required varies but on average I find around 8 refills for a black (as long as you don't let the cartridge dry out once empty) and slightly less for a colour.
The printer manufacturers will tell you, you could void your warranty by using refilled cartridges, but realistically you are still using their cartridge, the ink, providing it comes from a reputable source should be guaranteed to work to the original specification so you should have no problems( I have refilled hundreds of cartridges and have yet to find a problem regarding compatability with any printer brand.
Canon do make a scanner attachment for your model printer, however if you price it you will find you can buy a good flatbed scanner for around the same price ( I recommend you go with the flatbed).
If you would like any more info regarding ink refills or would like some print samples sent out to you or any help regarding a scanner, please e-mail me at >>>
