| 8789 | 2001-02-15 09:40:00 | Hitachi CDR 7730 was installed originally by Quay Computers on a 16-bit audio card. Driver on floppy was hit-ide.sys. Worked well till I and the computer crashed. When motherboard replaced by Quay, CDR was in IDE slot. I now want that slot for another HD so want to put CDR back on audio card. Quay Computers has forgotten how. |

| 8790 | 2001-02-15 20:56:00 | More info needed,You didnt say whether your cd-rom is installed as a slave on the primary IDE Or if it is installed on the secondary IDE ? To install it on the sound card you have to disable the onboard secondary IDE channel in the Bios,once you have done that you can't use the onboard secondary channel for your hard drive. Assuming you have only 1 hdd & cd-rom at the moment? I would set the new hdd as a slave on the primary IDE & set the cdrom as master on the secondary IDE. hope this helps, Steve. |
