Excellent magazine!!! March 2000 helped me successfully install a CD Writer.

Many Thanks

To anyone out there,

I am a keen computer person looking for easy answers to a list of faults I am experiencing
I am running Windows 95B with a 330mhz AMD processor, 64 Mb RAM and 6Gb HD.

Problem 1:

Since an upgrade 18mths ago the display adapter SIS 6326 has had a conflict with the PCI-to-PCI bridge in terms of both sharing the same resources memory and I/O ranges. Someone said I need to find out mother board number(bottom left screen, long number on start up?) and get a patch from SIS or Mother board manufacturer web site. How do I go about this?

2: My computer freezes sometimes with Msgrcv or Rnapp not responding or Kernell.32 faults.

3: After trying a PC World C/D(Feb) my PC crashed and will not read all C/Ds now. I get a Bad command line on start up 'CDROMDRV\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCDOO /L:G /V' On putting a disc into the drive I get told there is no C/d there.

4: I have just installed a Mitsumi(DSE) 4804 CD writer which keeps giving me 'illegal operation, invalid page fault in module creatr32.exe'.

5: Anyone know how to get round an easy cd creator message saying it 'cannot copy a single track with more than 100 form transitions'?

6: Computer 2, HP 4410 which has had an extra 64MB memory card added but still won?t play Games like Age of Empires or Sim City Games. We have had a black screen on loading the game to play it even though the game has been loaded. Other times we get a Direct Draw fault message on the screen.

Any help with any of these faults would be greatly appreciated.

8882 2001-02-18 03:45:00 Can't answer all questions, but...
1.Get the long number from bottom of BIOS startup screen. At a guess www.sis.com.tw might be a valid site for m/board drivers, else search at www.driversguide.com.
2. Type most of the error message into the Microsoft Knowledge Base at search.support.microsoft.com
3. The bad command means the DOS CDROM driver is missing or moved. But Windows doesn't need it to read CDROMs. If Windows can't see CDROMs, drive could be failing; lens could be dirty; CDROM could be dirty/faulty.
4??? 5???
6. Try the latest video driver for your video card; or try moving the video-acceleration slider one step or more to the left.
