8852 2001-02-17 06:49:00 Hi there all. Im seriously thinking of going to Windows2000 and would like some input from you guys as to whether some of my peripherals etc will work on this platform. So, without further ado, heres my list:
Acer vuego 540u flatbed scanner; Epson stylus 480 printer; conexant softk56,data,faxRTAD PCI Modem, and Conexant PCI Modem Enumerator. Another question. Will the operating system i buy already have service pack 1 already installed, or would i still have to put this in myself? Thanks for your help.

8853 2001-02-17 19:31:00 We recently changed over and what a nightmare!!! Microsoft said that W2K had virtually all known drivers and should not have a problem. We ended up by having to go to every manufacturers home page, look for W2K drivers for their product (most had them but many were hard to find). Those that didn't, well.....
Microsoft have somewhere a piece of software which runs across your platform and tells you where you will have problems. Not too reliable. Suggest you check for drivers before you make the committment. I know of several others who upon checking backed away from the change for the meantime as they did not have the time to put into it. Then, you might be lucky.

All the best
