8937 2001-02-19 06:51:00 I have a large spread sheet of pupil information (600 records). It's been created with two bits of info in one field in the following format <firstname, surname>. Can any one come up with a macro to write the two values to new columns and dump the ','. I will beat the person responsible.

8938 2001-02-19 07:20:00 That's interesting - when I posted the message a few minutes ago I included the string I couldn't seperate between a pair of angle brackets - and the string didn't appear in the message! The problem entry looks like this (firstname, surname) - without the brackets.
Thanks in anticipation

8939 2001-02-19 08:32:00 Hi Rob

You probably don't need a macro. Insert a column to the right of the one that has the info in it. Hightlight the column that has the info in it and then click on Data/Text to columns. Choose delimited and click on next.
Check 'commas' for the delimiter and click on next. Clickk on Finish.

That should do the job.
