| 8830 | 2001-02-16 12:08:00 | I am using Excel 97 on my desktop Win 98se system and have no problems. However, I have recently obtained a IBM Thinkpad laptop running Windows ME and use the SAME copy of Excel 97 on it, installed from the SAME CD. When using Excel 97 on the laptop I reguarly have the program freezing, it may only be a few minutes between freeze ups, even the mouse freezes. I am able to use the Ctrl/Alt/del keys to end the program and get control of the computer, but of course loose all data entered. I have to save extremely regularly. The system also freezes when I attempt to print an Excel file. This ocurs even if I PRINT PREVIEW the file (Epson 640 preview). This is common to ANY Excel file, BUT DOES NOT HAPPEN on the desktop system. The files are OK as I can copy them from the laptop to the desktop and have NO problem. I have re-installed Excel on the laptop to no avail. The problem still occurs. Does anyone know what the problem may be. Is there a conflict between Excel and Win ME an/or the IBM Thinkpad. |
