My son's 486 pc has some bad sectors on the main drive. Is it possible to repair them if not what options are available? |

I doubt if it can be fixed, but if it can it would cost several times the price of a new disk. You can buy a new disk for under $200, depending on the size you want. And they are very easy to replace. Jack |

You may overcome this problem by running scandisk. This will disable that part of the hard drive's physical memory and will attempt to copy data from bad sector to a good part.
However once the hard drive starts to fail then you may start to get more bad sectors. |
