| 8978 | 2001-02-19 21:32:00 | Iw ant to change its default to com 1 or 2 so I can try windows 98 tips on how to speed up my modem(link below). But when in modem properties it says you can change the port at any time by selecting which ever one you want to use, but com 1 & 2 are shaded. I have a ambient tech HaM modem. Any ideas??? | 8979 | 2001-02-22 12:40:00 | It maybe that your modem has a set of jumpers on it and it is set to Com4. If it has been jumpered to Com4 you can change the jumper settings, they should be explained on the printed circuit board of the modem. In any event you can still tweak the settings, just substitute Com4 for Com1. |

| 8980 | 2001-02-23 03:14:00 | As an alternative to Al's suggestion, if that doesnt work, try disabling the onboard com1 and com2 ports in your BIOS. This should then allow you to chose the com port settings for your modem if it is plug and play. | Guest (0) | ||
