There is currently no Internet answering machine in New Zealand. I assume you are talking about a system whereby a person calling your phone will get diverted to an answering service, that will forward messages to an application running while you surf the net. This would require Telecom co-operating, and your number being forwarded to an appropriate service (which dosent exist), when your number is busy. This information does not always get passed along. There are a number of companies overseas provdiding this service overseas, such as Pagoo, but not here. Your options include getting an ADSL Jetstream/Jetstart connection allowing you to use the phone at the same time so you dont need the service, or a 56k modem supporting Internet Call Waiting. This essentially works with call waiting, and puts your internet connection 'ON-HOLD' for a short period. I believe this is generally only available within the V.92 modem standard. |
