| 9105 | 2001-02-23 09:53:00 | I have recently upgraded to IE5.5 and I hate it. 9 times out of 10 when I try to connect from the shortcut icon on my taskbar the IE opens saying 'this page was not available'. I go to the connections settings and sure enough every time the settings have changed to 'never connect'. Is there a patch for this? Please. I am running a celeron 333 with 128M RAM and win98. | Guest (0) | ||

| 9107 | 2001-02-25 04:54:00 | Hi Paul, This problem seems to have been around for some time and I have not seen any explanation for it.These options are stored in the registry so something is deliberately changing the selection. Try this to see if it will isolate what is changing it.Go to start/find /files & folders inthe 'named' field enter *.inf and in the 'containing text' field enter enableautodial as one word. If you get no hits try *.dat in the named field and the same word in the text field. This will bring up at least 2 file names system.dat and user.dat these 2 files are the system registry if there are any other files in either instance note their full path name from drive to file. In each case you can probably limit the search to the C: drive but if you get no hits broaden the search to any other hard disks on your system. Repost the results. One other question , is this a stand alone machine or is it ever part of a network? Good luck PC. |
