| 9082 | 2001-02-23 03:52:00 | Step 1: Make sure both PC's are connected through either a hub or a crossover cable (3Metre CROSSOVER cable at Dick smiths for around $25..cheaper than buying a hub but only good for 2 pcs) Step 2: Make sure internet connection sharing is installed on the PC with win98SE (as it is only a feature of Second Edition) Step 3: Rightclick on Network Neigbourhood on the '2nd PC' and select properties...select the TCPIP next to your NETWORK CARD (not dialup)..under IP Address select 'Obtain Automatically'. Under Gateway make sure there is no info..under DNS 'Disable' and under WINS Config select 'Use DHCP' Step 4: Once this is done and the PC has rebooted, presuming you are still connected on the first PC to the net you just need to open the browser on the 2nd PC...if all goes well you should see a website appear (your default home page). For trouble shooting, these 2 addresses are excellent: www.infinisource.com & support.microsoft.com |
