9194 2001-02-25 12:53:00 Hi All

Does anyone have a manual with the jumper settings for a 33.6K KTX Modem (R16 chip)? It appears the manual is very rare!

The jumper settings on the modem in my friend's computer, were incorrectly set to counter a I/O 3F8 conflict. Consequently it appears that a LAN setup? was installed to cope with this. I have tried to set it straight (wished I hadn't!). I think I have found the correct driver now, but I need to know the correct jumper settings.

If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers. Sharrea

9195 2001-02-26 01:18:00 Can't answer your query but you may be able to help me - I have just taken a 33.6K KTX modem out of my home PC (replaced it with a 56K) and put it into a Compaq 166 - I can't get the Compaq to recognise the modem - I have tried to install the driver from disk but it looks for files from Windows ME - which is what I am running - but I have skipped the files as I don't have the Win ME CDRom (probably can get a copy).
Any suggestions as what to do next?

9196 2001-02-26 08:14:00 Hi Warren,

You need those WinME files for your modem to work - sorry, I can't help you there - I only have Win95 and Win98.

However, if you can get a copy of WinME, you need to first remove the modem installation: ControlPanel>Modems. Highlight the modem to be removed and click 'Remove'.

Now click 'Add' to reinstall it. Let Windows detect the modem and supply the modem disk and WinME CD as required.

Good luck. Cheers. Sharrea

9197 2001-02-26 08:19:00 Me again... oops, sorry, I just realised: that's how to do it in Win95/98. Not sure if its the same in WinME as I never used that OS. Guest (0)
9198 2001-02-26 08:56:00 I think I have the book for your modem - there are 6 jumpers and 4 COM ports - lots to type!! If you e-mail me at daveyjs@es.co.nz with the COM port and IRQ you want to use I will send you the jumper settings.
