| 9145 | 2001-02-24 22:17:00 | Some time ago I upgraded my PC hardware and installed Win98 SE, recently I cobbled together a 486DX4/100 from the leftover bits (+ some stuff from the junk box) which I have successfully networked to my main PC. The 486 does not have a CDRom drive so the intention behind the network was to enable sharing of printer/files/CDRom I have installed some apps over the network but MSoffice 97 will not install, I presume because the 486 is currently running an ancient (floppy disk) version of Win95 I guess my question is; how can I upgrade the OS on the 486 from a CDRom of Win95B in D drive on the other PC, (I have tried copying the Win95 folder from the CD to the HDD on the 486 but all I get is the folder with a few files in it) I am currently scanning a large quantity of family documents and saving them as WORD files for archiving/publication and it would be a great time saver if both PC's could access the files for proofing/printing Any ideas? |
