9073 2001-02-22 21:39:00 I use Epson Stylus 480 bubble jet and Epson LS 2500 clone dot-matrix printers from a Pentium III cpu. Either printer works perfectly when plugged directly into LPT1. I bought a data transfer switch from Dick Smith to save plugging/unplugging cords all the time, but all that happens is that Windows 98 tells me that neither printer cable is connected. I tried to achieve the same end by buying a USB connection cord from Dick Smith so as to run either printer off the USB port. Same result with either printer. Is this a fault in my CPU (hardly logical with the data switch ??) or am I missing something ? HELP !!!!! Guest (0)
9074 2001-02-22 23:47:00 I have used a box I made with a 25 pin rotary switch which switched between the 25 pin parallel input and either of two 25 pin outputs.
However the best solution was to install another parallel card and configure as LPT2: and run the second printer off this.

9075 2001-02-25 02:51:00 I would suggest that if the printers work individually with their own printer cables that the fault is in the new cable from the PC to the sharer or the sharer all cables should be 25 wire cables.
