2011-12-11 02:38:00 | And we're told the Country is in Safe Hands and enjoys the Confidence and Mandate of the People. HERE (www.stuff.co.nz) Followed by: HERE (www.stuff.co.nz) But Brownlee said he had no problem with the figures. "The cost of addressing an event of this magnitude was always going to be high, that's just a reality of the situation. On the whole, I think the cost is what it is, and the commission has managed this enormous challenge pretty well." Little wonder Nothing is getting done! I must admit I wouldnt be in any hurry to get my nose out of that trough either.

2011-12-11 02:53:00 | What do you expect when they employ straight from school kids and $75 an hour + $110 extras a day | gary67 (56) | |
2011-12-11 03:38:00 | Well they employed Jenny Shipley at $1000 a day because of her expertise, whatever that may be . Call me old fashioned, but I would have thought one would need considerable experience and qualifications before one could decide the fate of another persons dwelling or property? Seems not in NZ and the Government dont give a damn . I dont blame the ones with their noses firmly in the trough either, because if someone is prepared to pay you $70hr+ when you leave school theyd be fools not to take it . Then it would be a case of Two Fools Met . The Fool that offered it and the Fool who didnt take it . ;)

2011-12-11 07:00:00 | When you hire someone who specializes in something during a time of need when they will be in high demand what do you think will happen to their pay? | icow (15313) | |
2011-12-11 07:09:00 | Don't see any news articles yet about the builders who are, in some cases, charging 3 to 4 times their normal rates to go down and help build stuff... | inphinity (7274) | |
2011-12-11 07:58:00 | When you hire someone who specializes in something during a time of need when they will be in high demand what do you think will happen to their pay? Well how do you justify this? Canterbury events manager Reid Stiven, claims manager Gail Kettle and senior manager Barry Searle also have children working as estimators or assessors. Zac Stiven, 19, and Nikki Kettle, in her late 20s, are earning $75 an hour as assessors, while Matt Searle, who had just completed his building apprenticeship when he was employed, is on $60 as an estimator.
