1270235 2012-04-17 00:07:00 Trev, could I be had up for defamation? As I understand it, defamation is the intention to cause another harm. That is not my intention, as I came to the forum puzzled as to what I had experienced. I am in Levin.
Thats good. No you wouldn't be had for defamation if you name the place. It would just be tilling other people not to go there. Other places have been named and shamed on this forum before. I actually named a computer place on this forum a few years ago who were a bit crooked.
:)

1270236 2012-04-17 00:53:00 Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 ( www.consumer.org.nz ):

If the problem cannot be fixed, or cannot be put right within a reasonable time, or is substantial, you can:
....Have it repaired elsewhere and recover the costs from the retailer, if they refuse to fix a faulty product, or fail to do so in a reasonable time.

When you have the right to reject the goods, sellers cannot just offer a credit note. If you want a refund, you are entitled to it - by cash, cheque or credit card charge reversal.

Substantial means:
...The goods are substantially unfit for purpose

Take it elsewhere to get it fixed.

From Levin - I wonder - :illogical I have a customer in levin who used to live in Wainui, she had a couple of minor problems roughly 18 months after leaving and took her PC to some guy in Levin ( dont know the shops name) and then after a week went and got it back, she said it was worse than when she took it in. Asked me to have a look at it, so we linked up via remote, and took about an hour of fixing things and it was running good again.

May be the same person / shop ??

Well you just remember, when you want to reinstall XP this is how it is done. And it wont take anymore than 2 hours. In fact Louise, you may want to print this out and take it down to that shop lmao.

1\ full reinstall
step 1 backup your personal documents as you have already done.
step 2 use double driver to backup my drivers ( safety first )
step 3 restart the computer and ensure that my computer will boot from cd or dvd drive by altering the boot sequence in bios (cmos)
step 4 insert my xp disk and restart the computer
step 5 follow the onscreen instructions until i got to the select partition screen i would then delete the partition and then create a new partition ensuring to format it in the ntfs file system.
step 6 install windows normally
step 7 using double driver reinstall drivers if necessary
step 8 install glarys utilities ( giving me a startup manager and registry cleaner )
step 9 install service packs 1 to 3 ( available for free from the Microsoft web site )
step 10 install .net framework 1, 2, 3.5 and 4 ( as a lot of software relies on this framework )
step 11 up date internet explorer if i used it including all the flash and java add ons
step 12 install the java runtime environment
step 13 reinstall all software i normally use
step 14 run glarys registry cleaner then startup manager and stop all programs from starting when the computer starts up ( except audio or video drivers or antivirus)
step 15 open the system menu in control panel and set my paging file and visual effects to performance.
step 16 restart the computer
step 17 run regedit and enter my registry tweaks then restart computer
and thats pretty much how its done ( without getting too detailed )

according to the Levin milkster!!
And dont forget your double driver and glarys registry cleaner!!

Warning, dont try this yourself at home, work, or anywhere. Seek professional help (from men in white coats) if using this method.

1270242 2012-04-17 06:09:00 Or use Nlite and RVM integrator. Slipstream everything inc the .net files / DirectX, Service pack,WMP,IE which are all updated. You can also slipstream the drivers. There's a zipped file that has everything in it. Then skip step 1-3. Skip step 7. Install ccleaner instead for step 8. Skip 8-11. Install Java/flash. Thats it. Once you create an ISO and boot from the cd, it'll take under an hr. And it'll be up to date Speedy Gonzales (78)
1270243 2012-04-17 06:23:00 yeah I read that entire thread. Certainly entertaining. Also I being a bit of a Windows newbie, Why is it that you need to do so much more to re-install than the original install? Slankydudl (16687)
