If lip reading was was possible without hearing the language try lip reading a chinese person (assuming you dont speak mandarin or cantonese). My wife is profoundly deaf and her lip reading skill is dependant on the person she is talking to. Can I get a disability allowance? - My ears work (a lot better than the bit between them) but I can't understand a huge range of foreign languages I have heard, let alone lip read them. ;) |

People frightened to post in case they get insulted etc. 12 posts in over 5 hours. :) You may well be right. I'm not frightened nor do I fear insults. But the fun we used to have in this forum has diminished noticeably of late, at the hands of a few who delight in squabbling and trading insults. :( I don't even feel like giving Trev a dig about lack of apostrophes (that's), or spelling (probably). But I will :D |

Mods are are entitled to the same protection the forum rules offer others, and I don't have to put up with childish remarks. Got it? It's amazing what a bit of power does to some people. Anyone else would either make a smart reply or just ignore it completely, but those of us with the power to do so will "kick you ass off the forum." Very grown up, I must say. It seems that mods are more than "entitled to the same protection the forum rules offer others" - it seems mods can kick you off the forum. We mere mortals do not have that option - we just have to take it. I'm not condoning bad behaviour but I think that your reaction, Jen, is just a little bit over the top. After my remarks you will most probably threaten me as well. |

| 1248030 | 2011-12-11 07:55:00 | man there is some grumpy people here today........... currently i cant say how many of pf1 people are deaf, near deaf, or wearing aids to help........... i am, and i do work... i have lost 80 - 90 % of my hearing.... with out my ears in, i can hardly tell what some one is saying, but it has not stopped me having a job, and doing it well. If this person was blind would you still be grumpy? What about if they needed a wheel chair? We are all people, we all have the right to be who we are, and not hidden because we are different......... and yeah there is far too much grumpy in fighting in this place and its lost its sense of family, and fun......... life has got so serious round here every body is afraid. beetle |

As I said before - anyone else in this forum who is insulted will either make a smart reply or ignore it, but I have yet to hear anyone make personal threats until now. I believe that Jen was being heavy handed and her reaction was over the top. |
