1270800 2012-04-18 23:46:00 I have a computer here with an ASUS G210 Silent. Anything specific you want to know about it?

What's the specs of it? How do the graphics perform? What is it used for?

Probably best that you look up the specs on line for the card. The computer here is for general use, not for games. The card was used in a HTPC, and it played any multimedia file except interlaced 1080 files.

1270802 2012-04-18 23:59:00 Hmmm..... I'm still stuck whether to go with the G210 or the Radeon 5450 but I'm generally getting the idea that they'll do what I want and they both perform the same, so I guess it's just personal preference then. Also with the Radeon 5450 what are the differences in the Gigabyte and Sapphire models?

EDIT: I've decided upon a GT520 which seems to be superior to both of those for only $10 extra, as recommended by Iantech.

1270803 2012-04-19 00:08:00 Also with the Radeon 5450 what are the differences in the Gigabyte and Sapphire models?Sapphire models include a low profile bracket, gigabyte doesnt so probably is no good for a low profile case, sapphire have 2 models, 1 with 512Mb memory, other with 1024Mb. gigabyte model has 1024Mb mem. 1270804 2012-04-19 00:17:00 I've decided upon the GT520 which you recommended, seems like a good solid card which out performs both the G210 and Radeon 5450. jevans (16086)
1270805 2012-04-19 00:17:00 I just built a media pc on an AMD A8 processor with a Gigabyte FM1 board - the graphics as the equivalent of a ATI 6550.

Seems to play anything I chuck at it, and is fast enough to transcode Freeview HD on the fly for my iphone. Has the advantage of no graphics fan.

Good luck with your build :)

1270807 2012-04-19 00:21:00 I can confirm that the AMD A series with on die graphics perform well. I bought my daughter a Gateway laptop with the A8-3500 CPU (HD6620G on die graphics) and it runs MW3 1366x768 very, very smoothly. I was actually shocked at how well it looked and played. Did not install Fraps on her laptop so I cannot give you any fps numbers. She does not play MW3 (she is 10), it was the free weekend and I wanted to test the Gateways capabilities but she does enjoy a little Team Fortress 2 and it runs flawlessly. scottmcp432 (16647)
1270808 2012-04-19 00:33:00 EDIT: I was just looking at benchmark results comparing the Fusion APUs with i3 and i5 processors w/integrated graphics and the Intels absolutely thrashed them in almost every test.... somehow I don't think I'll be going down that road but thanks for the help :)

The cheapest i5 is more expensive than the top-end A8, and the cheapest i3 is nearly twice the price of the base A4, so one would hope they perform better ;)

This is pricing set by Intel though... So nobody knows :p
