1247704 2011-12-07 23:38:00 So, I'm a bit confused. So you got home, carjam'd it, and then rang the council to tell them someone was driving an unwarranted car? inphinity (7274)
1247705 2011-12-07 23:43:00 The point was that not even the Police or your local council traffic dept. are not interested in following it up when you have reported it to them.
@pcuser42 a public road.
:)

There are still local council traffic departments?? I thought that hey were all merged with the MOT about 20 years ago leaving only the parking Nazis to gather revenue..

1247706 2011-12-07 23:45:00 True. Cars need to be kept roadworthy when warranted. Tyres and CV joints are sometimes suspect on warranted cars. Drivers are unsafe too, rather than cars, often hearing and seeing many high speed cop chases past our house, usually after a local wholesale being burgled. People have driven on Auckland motorways the wrong way. kahawai chaser (3545)
1247707 2011-12-07 23:52:00 and they were not interested unless it was parked on the road. Theres one like that parked up outside. It "arrived" sometime on Monday, space saver tyre on the front, and the other front tyre also flat. Looks like a piece of crap the boy racers may have.

The reg ran out early 2010, so its obviously not warranted either. A much better car pulled up behind it yesterday, someone got in and did something then they buggered of again.

1247710 2011-12-07 23:58:00 If you don't look suspicous like with a couple of people and the family's tent, and they have not seen you before, during the day time you may get away if you say you are going to your mechanic to get it certified .... Nomad (952)
1247711 2011-12-07 23:58:00 Do you know you can drive an unsafe car that has a warrant on our roads and no-one will notice until it goes for the next warrant?
Do you know you can drive a perfectly working warranted car on our roads, pissed and no-one will notice until he may get pulled over or crash into someone else first?

Noisy - doesn't necessarily make it unsafe.
Brake lights funny - also doesn't necessarily make it unsafe.

Yes I know all that.

afaik, Councils can now only issue stationary vehicle offences, so if it's driving on the road, not much they can do.

The cops are not after PC's pals, it's the law abiding they want, so much easier and compliant.
