Google now currently filming inside parks, ski fields, shopping malls, beaches and buildings, starting from NYC. (www.nytimes.com) See their image galley (maps.google.com) (thought UK Kensington Gardens was a royal lush park, than semi barren as shown). Unclear if coming to NZ, but some suggestions for NZ here. (craig.stanton.net.nz). |

What's the point of filming inside malls?
Will have to blur out hundreds of faces, not to mention have to re-film every couple of months if they want to keep it up to date due to how often shops change in malls. |

they don't seem to have any problem blurring hundreds of faces for the street view of the "High Line" in New York (maps.google.com)(the old above street rail tracks) |

Not sure of any point, and issues of blurring out people, but Google have partnered with retailers in malls, airports, Home Depots, etc in the USA and Japan. Since many are so huge (e.g. Shopping mall of America (www.mallofamerica.com) - Directory), with over 300 - 500 shops per mall. Many Americans shop on the go with their mobiles. I think Google are going to also map floor plans as well. But if retailers have partnered - might be something in for them, as I know many advertise their products through Google Advertising networks (e.g. GAN (www.google.com) and Adwords). |
