9442 2001-03-02 05:38:00 I have a laptop running win98 that I use at work connected to an NT domain.
At home I run a small winME network, I want to be able to bring my laptop home at night and plug into the ME network so I can share files with my home PC's.
Is there an easy way for me to make my laptop work with both the NT and ME networks?

9443 2001-03-08 04:12:00 The short answer would be no, as network properties would be bound to your NIC, and you could only use one set of network proerties - but...

I'm making a few assumptions here because I'm unfamiliar with ME networking - I assume nothing substantial is different between it and Win9x ... in any case my solutions would only be kludges.

Does your NT network use DHCP, or are your client's assigned static IPs?
Also, is your home network peer-to-peer?

If they are static IPs, then the simple thing would be to replicate the ip schema in your home ME network (e.g. if your NT network schema is 192.168.xxx.xxx then you clould replicate it at home)
When you logged on at home, simply pressing <cancel> through your logon prompts should still connect you to your home network. This is necessary because your network login will be configured to look for an NT domain controller upon startup.

If you use DHCP at work, you *might* get away with the same result if you installed and used NetBEUI for your home network - again you would have to <cancel> through any initial logon prompts.

I don't know whether this would work, and even if it did things like internet and email access would complicate matters, as these may well be configured to look for network servers - but its a start.

What I tried to say is that your would have to press the CANCEL button through your login prompts, rather than enter passwords and press OK, to bypass the ususal login routines.
