| 9354 | 2001-02-28 11:24:00 | Hi George, The differences between the two programs is vast. Photoshop 6 is the worlds leading Image editing application used by the photographic and media industries as their standard. It requires many many hours to learn and is really designed for professionals with an already considerable knowledge base. The huge array of features and the level of control you have over image and text manipulation is staggering. The program assumes you are already an advanced user and therefore does not have much in the way of tutorial or template help. (although there are many web sites designed to help you get the most out of the program) Make no mistake though if you can afford the huge cost and are prepared to spend many hundreds of hours to learn, it is with out a doubt the one to buy. PhotoDeluxe is aimed at the home user and is very much template based, and will step you through any process you wish to carry out and automates many of the tasks you would carry out manually in P.shop 6. This of course limits the control you have over the project in hand. In my opinion having used many graphics programs, value for money must be Paintshop Pro 7 or Ulead PhotoImpact 6 both give you Web integration and many of the features of P.shop 6 as well as the user friendly approach of Photodeluxe for about $250.00 Both of these programs have excellent Web sites designed to help assist you achieve your goals and have many downloadable templates and tutorials. Hope this helps. Billy C |

| 9355 | 2001-02-28 21:42:00 | Billy Many thanks for this advice. Very helpful. I have used Photoimpact a couple of times on a mates PC and found it good though challenging to a newby to graphics. Someone told me it has nearly all the Photoshop features, is easier to use and a fraction of the price, as you have confirmed. I am looking for a bit of a challenge but don't want to be silly about it. I think Photoimpact might fit the task. Again, thanks. George |
