9356 2001-02-28 07:20:00 When I am downloading and it takes some time, my internet provider disconnects me as they seem to think the computer has been idle for some time. (And I have not been idle)
It is a real bother as my download stops and will have transfer errors and I have to start all over again.
By disconnecting me every time I remain online far longer.
If they only would leave me to do what I want to do, I will be online for only half the time.
Is there anyone who has a solution?

9358 2001-02-28 10:26:00 what isp? how bad are your phonelines? normally i would say get a new isp, but it could be your lines. you may need to slow your modem down to match the lines. it will be slow but stable. eg a mates phone lines are really noisy, if you try to connect at 56k he gets dropped withen 10-15 min. if he limits it to 31k it will stay on almost permantly. 9359 2001-02-28 19:44:00 You can download free software that will keep the connection open by pinging at a regular interval. However that doesn't seem to be your problem, it seems to be either your line or your ISP. Guest (0)
