| 9331 | 2001-02-27 21:51:00 | I have a sheet of car speeds data. One column has the time the car passed in hours, mins, seconds; the next has the car's speed in kms, to one decimal place(eg 56.5). As there are over 400 data points I need to average the speeds in order to make a readable time vs. speed graph. How could I get excel to generate average speeds for each minute, or other time period?. In other words, I want to reduce my data set to average speeds within chosen time periods. E.g. avergae speed of all cars between 3.35.00 and 3.40.00. I am guessing lookup tables are required... any suggestions are greatly appreciated! ps, this data is nothing to do with speed fines!, just some research into how drivers speeds may be affected by environmental changes. |

You can do this using If function e.g. IF(A1>=3.35 and A1<=3.40,A1,' ') Copy and modify the cells as appropriate. You can then count and average the number of items in each column and prepare your graph on totals. |
