| 9521 | 2001-03-03 21:25:00 | I can no longer get an internet connection from either Outlook Express or Internet Explorer. When the phone connection tries to establish a message comes back, 'Failed to connect to remote computer. Could not detect Modem. It may be in use, turned off or not installed properly'. I have tried most of the usual including re-installing drivers from 2 different sources. Nothing works except once only immediately after a 'Scandisk' I can get a connection. Once I log off from that I am them unable to connect again unless I 'Scandisk' again. HELP!!! | Guest (0) | ||

If you have a question mark in the window, check to see if one of the devices is for a PCI Communications Device. You will probably have a Modem installation showing as well. I found that I had to open the device which was registering as an error and go through the update Driver proceedure to point the device to the correct drivers. Once done I then had to remove the 'old' modem device and reboot. I now have a functioning PCI Modem #2. Good luck.=) |
