9471 2001-03-02 12:07:00 Hi

I am replacing my old graphics card with the Hercules prophet mx 2 but after loading the drivers and rebooting, the system always crash before booting is completed.Windows doesn't seem to recognised the card also it's giving out this message'SPD not found on Dimms 1,2&3' but the old card has no such problem. The system.Pentium3 450mhz,M6TBA M/board,160ram and the intel740 graphic card on AGP.

9472 2001-03-08 08:58:00 Is your old video card onboard?
if it is make sure you disable it in the bios!
Have you install the correct driver?
is there any way you can get on the net to check for the latest driver for your new Video card, or go to intel web site and look for your new intel video card driver.
Good luck!

9473 2001-03-09 04:19:00 Sounds like you have a memory timing issue that has been made more critical by the addition of the GForce2MX.

Look for RAS and CAS settings and set these to as high as possible.

This will decrease performance but should stabilise the system, which can be incrementally tweaked up as things come right.

SPD is automatic way of determining the correct memory timings on SDRAM modeules. (This is the System RAM not the graphics card RAM)
