9730 2001-03-08 21:56:00 I have a legal, full version of Win98. I wish to reinstall it onto my machine due to some 'erroneous' errors, and keep some of my files for reinstallation into the mydocs folder. The install comes back saying that I have to purchase an upgrade, and not to use the full install. Surely there is some switch or way of making the software think that it is doing a clean install? 9731 2001-03-09 02:57:00 You will have to reformat your HD :( Or u must have no trace of windows on your HD Guest (0)
9732 2001-03-09 03:46:00 Try backing up the WIN.COM file out of C:\Windows and then delete it.

I think you will find the disk uses this file to check what version you have.

9733 2001-03-10 05:29:00 you should be able to reload Windows over top of your existing Windows, As long as you have the correct Windows ID (make sure the one on the book or computer is the same as the one that is installed, ie. check system properties.)
Is the OS you are currently running the same as the CD version?
