9857 2001-03-12 03:35:00 I have just noticed that I can't get any sound when I try to play a music CD.
I have Tried the Win98 CD player as well as WINAMP, both show the cd playing but no sound. Game CD's work fine ? I recently upgraded from the onboard sound card to a Yamaha DS-XG one. I found that I can't remove the old one so I have Disabled it in Device manager. But I also have to keep the PnP game port active from the Crystal sound card and deactivate the Yamaha PnP port. So I Have the Crystal PnP game port active, the Crystal WDM Audio Codex Disabled, the Crystal WDM Audio Control Registers Disabled, the Crystal WDM -401 Compatible Disabled,Wave divice for voice modem active,Yamaha DS-XG Game port disabled, the Yamaha DS-XG Legacy sound system active, the Yamaha DS-XG PCI Audio Codec Active, Can anyone help

9860 2001-03-18 11:15:00 Same problem with the same sound card.Downloaded Real Player and Real Jukebox and played CD's in those. After that for some reason Windows CD player now works. Real Jukebox starts to appear after the CD player is on screen. Close it down and Windows CD player works on its own. Hope it works for you Guest (0)
9861 2001-03-18 11:30:00 I had same problem with the same sound card. Tried everything. Downloaded Real Player and Real Jukebox and found CD's would play in those. Since then I've found the Windows CD will now play. Just after it is loaded Real Jukebox starts to load. I close that down and Windows CD plays fine. I don't understand it. Hope this is of help to you Guest (0)
