9987 2001-03-14 09:47:00 When i connect to the internet my modem connects fine but after 2 or 3 minutes it totally loses the server, I am still connected but cannot download any web pages or sites at all. I have played around with the Internet and Modem settings but nothing works. Can anyone help?? Guest (0)
9988 2001-03-14 12:16:00 What operating system are you running? Win-modems often cause headaches, but in this case it could be either the PC or the modem itself at fault. Perform the usual things like getting latest drivers for the modem, and perhaps the dialup networking update from microsoft if you're running 95 or 98a.
There may be an initialisation string for the modem too.

9989 2001-03-15 03:07:00 I have had trouble with Lucent modems also. I work with computers and find that Lucent modems cause a majority of the problems with modems. Try updating the drivers and if that dont work try out Lucent Tech Support. Guest (0)
9990 2001-03-15 07:18:00 Hi

I have a Lucent WinModem and was also getting this problem, it seemed that it was sending out blasts of info, but nothing was coming back, and web pages would not load. Also the connection was always at 31200 bps.

I went to the Xtra help page and searched thru that, and found several driver updates, which I installed, changed a few settings, and now I am connecting quicker and faster than ever before :)

I would suggest looking at the Xtra help pages, even if not an Xtra customer, and of course the Lucent homepage. Also try your computer manufacturers homepage.
