| 9927 | 2001-03-13 05:08:00 | I use Win2K for most of my work and dual boot to Win98SE for some games that don't work under Win2K. The reason why I don't use Win98SE for everything is that it is far too unstable and not terribly good at multi-tasking whereas I've been using Win2K for about 6 months and never managed to crash it. It's also faster on a reasonably specified machine especially when running a bunch of stuff at once. It plays games like Age of Empires fine but really graphically intensive stuff I've had a problem with. There are regular releases from M/S to make it compatible with current games but older ones that go directly to hardware will require Win98. I can't comment personally on ME but from what I've read, I wouldn't bother with it myself. It has more overhead than SE and provides little extra that you can't add with a free download. The features like the automatic repair of system files just slows it down so unless you regularly munt your OS, I wouldn't bother with it. As far as I'm concerned, Win2K is the bomb. If it wasn't for a couple of older games I play, I wouldn't bother with anything else. |

| 9929 | 2001-03-16 19:41:00 | my new pc came with win me. i tried it for 2 months, before putting win 98 on. visually it was ok, had some nice 'toys', but it was unstable and would not run a few of my apps\games. i've been trying to sell the win me 'full' version cdrom for 3 months - no takers at all?!?! that must say something | Guest (0) | ||
