9882 2001-03-12 10:28:00 After a registry problem in December lost me my recent e-mails, I transferred the contents of the Windows 98SE folder C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{B.......9}\microsoft\outlook express to a backup CD-ROM. I have just had another registry problem, and after formatting of my C: drive and reinstallation of the Win98SE and other software, I could not get Outlook Express 5 to recognise these backed up folders. I tried copying the files into their original directory folder, and I tried the Import command in Outlook Express. Neither worked. 'Help' tells me how to compress and back up folders, but it does not appear to cover their re-instatement. Can anyone help me with this problem please? Guest (0)
9883 2001-03-12 12:12:00 Hello Hugh
Providing your backed up DBX files are not corrupted, you should be able to restore them using Outlook Express's import function, just in case you are missing a step when performing this task here are all the steps >> File >> Import >> Messages >> Microsoft Outlook Express 5 >>
Import Mail from an OE5 store directory >>then Browse to where your Backup is stored >> finished.
If that doesn't work something is wrong with your backed up files, even then all is not lost e-mail me at
alan@computerscomponents.zzn.
com and I will send you a Freeware utility to extract DBX files with.

9884 2001-03-13 09:00:00 Hello Alan,
Thanks for the very comprehensive reply. I think that I may be having trouble because I copied rather than exported the files, so the import command cannot find them even with the path defined.
I tried your e-mail address but my message got returned. Is there a typo in the address you gave me? [alan@computerscomponents.zzn]
I really would appreciate a copy of the Freeware utility to expand these .DBX files.

Kind regards,
Hugh
