10037 2001-03-15 05:46:00 I am not able to carry out an OCR scan.
I am able to scan an image using iphoto plus 1.2 or by using the insert image from scanner menu through M.S. Word 2000.
The following occurs when doing an OCR scan through TextBridge Classic;
When scan is started the direct scan window opens.
Pre scan works fine
When scan is selected the initializing window appears and the scanner appears to initialize O.K although the 100% indicator does not appear.
This window then reports that it is scanning but it locks up here and does not go any further.
I have loaded the 2.02 driver (d12epe22.exe) but the problem remains.
I have also loaded the Win 98 patch (sfcep98.exe) but the problem remains
I have also ensured that the BIOS is in EPP mode and have selected selected the direct scan cover driver off, (Defrag disk only works in Windows safe mode).
I am getting no error messages.
Since getting this problem I have installed Omnipage pro 10 and a similar problem occurs when doing an OCR scan. Scanner initializes then locks up.
I can not scan in Windows safe mode.
All other computer functions operate normally.
Can you help?

10038 2001-03-15 14:00:00 You don't mention the specs of your PC or what other apps are running (either on your desktop or in the system tray). My first thoughts are that you are running out of RAM. OCR is pretty intensive - may be it hasn't actually locked up but is just taking a while.

Try scanning a very simple text doc - perhaps a piece of paper with couple of words typed on it. The problem may be with the text you are attempting to scan ie there is too much or it is not very ledgible.

Luck.

10039 2001-03-16 05:31:00 I have a PII 333 with 128 Mb RAM and no other program running. I have found that I have 2 Twain drivers in my system. One is in C:\windows\system and the other in C:\windows. Both are version 1.6.03.
Should there be 2 twain drivers? Is this likely to be the problem? I deleted the C:\windows\syetem one but the problem is still there. I could not delete the C:\windows one. Error message says this file is being used by windows.

10040 2001-03-18 07:03:00 Problem solved by re-formatting hard drive and re-instaling Win 98.
Thanks.
