| 10207 | 2001-03-19 12:30:00 | The problem is this I've just recently connected 2 computers via a crossover cable, 1 running Win ME which is running ICS and the other is Win98. Now when I go onto the computer running Win98 I can access my WinME computer but for some reason I cant access the Win98 file system from either computer. Also, after I started up ICS I've noticed that the internet connection stalls alot more. In the instruction guide for the 2 ethernet cards, it mentioned something about using half duplex instead of full duplex or something If im having problems but I dont know where I can change these duplex settings. So if anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated.Cheers Regards Michael |

| 10208 | 2001-03-20 08:55:00 | Michael, I had the same sort of problems when setting up a LAN when i was using Windows9x. Two articles that I found that were really helpfull, and which explained the finer points of networking in good detail, and also provided necessary information to do a step by step analysis of your own setup. The websites are located as follows: www.voodooextreme.com/flypenguin/network.htm The article is on Win95 but the same principles apply. The other one is: grc.com You could also try microsofts support site which is as follows: support.microsoft.com To search through there knowlegebase, just enter in your OS, and then type in your question. It takes ome time, but you cna usually find what you want Hope this helps |
