| 10228 | 2001-03-20 02:04:00 | Hi! I'm rather new to this whole computer-stuff, and just had a question about Outlook Express. I usually use Hotmail to send my emails, and like the security required to get into my account e.g. password. When I recently used Outlook Express (5.5?), I noticed that there is no security required what-so-ever to get into my account, so, theoretically, ANYBODY in my household could just switch my computer on and read my past emails, and any unread ones. Is this right? Is there any security-function I can put onto my Outlook Express account? Thanks for your help! |

Your unread messages cannot be read by others unless they have your password because they have to be downloaded from the web server first. Remember that if you have vital information on your computer, ultimately others can basically access anything they like if they have physical access to the machine, unless it's stored in a highly encrypted file. |
