For some reason my computers data transfer program no longer recognises my data logger connected to COM1 although it works on other computers. I have tried another DOS transfer program which works when the computer is booted to DOS but not under windows (in a DOS window). The only software changes since it last worked are Microsoft critical updates and updates to Outlook Express and Internet Explorer. |

Security updates have probably closed ports that your recorder is using. if possible try changing port addresses. I'm not very conversant with how this is done but it may give you somewhere to start looking. Check the 'Security'tab in explorer and outlook for possble leads. |

Thank you Ross Swain for pointing me in the right direction. By deleting the com port in Windows Control Panel - System - Device Manager and then re-booting the computer new hardware was detected and the port database rebuilt. Everything now works!!! |
