10323 2001-03-22 10:05:00 How much software have you got loaded. Did you do a full install Norton SW 2001 onto your harddrive. I have been having the same prblem with ME and well as freezes and lockups, and not shutting down. Try this, cold start your computer (not a reboot), then click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information. When Help and Support finally loads, look for Available Physical Memory, I think you will be more than a little surprised at how much you have left. I have 128MB of ram and only have 35MB left from start up. to help free up memory click on Tools in Help and Support and click on System Configuration Utility, click Guest (0)
10324 2001-03-22 10:19:00 How much software have you got loaded? Did you do a full install Norton SW 2001 onto your harddrive? Could I suggest that you run Norton off the CD. I have been having the same prblem with ME as well as freezes and lockups, and not shutting down. To help free up memory click on Tools in Help and Support and click on System Configuration Utility,in the General tab, click on Selective startup, click the Startup tab, which lists all the things that load at startup. Uncheck some of those items listed, but be careful, I would NOT uncheck anything that says register or registry, PC Heakth or *StateMgr, I'd keep antivirus and firewall software startup's and I think you will find that your machine will run better. You will get a message at startup that tells you that you are running Selective startup, But this can be prevented from comming up. Hope this helps Guest (0)
