| 10530 | 2001-03-27 10:39:00 | I've just installed a new Western Digital 2Gig HD as slave to a 4G Master. i set the jumpers accordingly, on startup i kicked into BIOS setup and autodetected the new drive. Restart & the drive is not seen by Windows (98)! In device manager under drives I have a type 46 & type47 which indicates the drive is there. What have I missed? Do I need to Fdisk the new drive first? Thanks |

| 10533 | 2001-03-28 10:54:00 | Thanks for the comments guys, I have tried this drive as Master and Slave on the Prim.IDE and as Master on Sec. IDE . BIOS sees it ok but still not seen in windows/ My Computer. I cant Fdisk it as it doesnt have a drive letter! Only the Master (4Gig) shows up in Fdisk as C: Are brand new drives pre formatted/bootable? Where do I check to make sure lastdrive =z and not d .On the label of the drive it says 'AT compatible' Shouldnt it be ATA for a new computer? (15 months old) Any more ideas? Thanks |

| 10536 | 2001-04-02 10:11:00 | Thanks for the help .I downloaded a program from Western Digital called Data Lifeguard Tools which I used to partition/format the new drive. It sounds like this should have came with the Drive,on floppy. | Guest (0) | ||
