2001-03-26 04:18:00 I'm looking at purchasing a CD Writer, what I want to know is which brands are any good or more to the point, which ones to steer clear of.I guess the cheaper ones,eg BTC;LG would not go the distance? Any suggestions? Guest (0)

2001-03-26 08:16:00 Shop around and ask around. Try different appliance/computer stores that sell mixed brands. Ask for recommendations. Different people have different oppinions. Price often is related to name only. Previous person recommends HP, very expensive & I don't like HP personally, mine is ACER, very good and not too expensive. Guest (0)
2001-03-26 09:52:00 I've had a HP for about a year now & still going strong. Recommend you buy a USB type if you are going external. Serial HP wouldn't work with my serial HP scanner. Guest (0)
2001-03-26 10:06:00 As others have written, HP is an excellent brand. However with todays technology things change very quickly. I would suggest looking around and ensuring you get the best price available while purchasing a known brand through a reputable retailer.

The choice is large and yours to make.

2001-03-26 11:05:00 Hi Phil, i have an Acer CRW8432 and it goes like a dream. Cost $399 so is quite cheap. Recommend you dump adaptec software you will probably get with your drive and get Nero, a much better program for burning cd's. Guest (0)
2001-03-27 02:46:00 LG are actually really good. Many of the HP ones the others are raving about are LG underneath the HP badge. Guest (0)
2001-03-28 19:36:00 i do not recommand buying a HP for they are very expensive and do not perform as well. If you are looking for cheap ones Acer is very good and LG and some of those Korean brand ones are very cheap and performs well. Guest (0)
