| 10551 | 2001-03-28 02:26:00 | I am trying to set up a Dynalink external modem on to a HP Pavilion 6615, it sets up ok, the computer can communicate with it ok....BUT it does not like connecting to the internet....sometimes. Sometimes it connects fine, other times it connects but will not transfer data, or else it will not connect but return the error message 650 can not establish a network connection please check network setting or please check your password. Not easy when there is no one error message being returned. Have tried all the normal fixes eg: reinstalling the modem, communications, dial up networking. Have tried a couple of strings which the modem did not like much, teaking all the settings on the modem and dial up connection....BUT still no joy!!. If anyone has any ideas would be most appreciated, it does work fine with the factory internal which I have had to reinstall in the mean while. Hardware set up goes like this:AMD 550 K62 processor 64 meg ram Mustec scanner & HP printer on LPT 1 Swann webcam on the USB Dynalink V1456VQE-R1 external modem on COM 1 Polaroid 640 Digital camera on COM 3 Dolphin Fastpci-4078 serial port card in a spare PCI slot. Thought maybe it might be in the way the Hardware is set up but there are no device conflicts |

First if you have more than one telephone on the same line (throughout the house) try removing 1 at a time and see if that makes a change. I have seen in the past some phones that appear to draw too much power from the line, (not all the time), and this does hic-cup the connection. Second, go look at Dynalinks Website http://www.dynalink.co.nz for updated drivers, there may be a chance this will help. Lastly, try adding in the Modems advanced properties extra settings (W2K is different I cannot remember exact spot to do this) &P1 &G2. These settings set the modem for NZ telephone line conditions as far as I understand. Had good sucess with this particular fix, known about it for years, but strangely NZ Modem Importers do not make up an appropriate inf file for NZ conditions. Would slow down some of the negative feedback and support calls from customers. Cheers Rick |

Try the camera on COM2 or COM4 (these two also share the same IRQ, IRQ3). Disconnect the camera for a while and see what happens. You could also right click 'My Computer' and click properties, click Device Manager, and you may find the Ports item open and a yellow dot with an exclamation mark. If it is then it is sure to be your problem with the IRQ's. Hope this helps. |
