10654 2001-03-30 05:41:00 Every now and then some program (I suspect Windows working in the background) tries to accesss my floppy drive. The only way to stop it is to insert a floppy into the drive (even a blank disc). Is there any setting I can use to prevent this read attempt or even just limit it to a single read attemt ? Guest (0)
10655 2001-03-30 14:30:00 If you have Microsoft Office installed on your system, this could be the Office Find fast utility searching your hard drive for office documents to update its index. I'm not quite sure what setting disables it but you should have a FindFast Icon in your control panel...check it out and see what you can enable/disable. Guest (0)

Go to the startup tab, and you can disable it in there. Fast find is more of a hinderance than help. when installing office it should always be deselected.
