| 1272227 | 2012-04-27 04:25:00 | Before coming here, I did search on google. I restored Hp Dv6 laptop back to factory settings, resinstalled Windows 7, then the LED light for the mute button wouldn't turn off, so I tried googling for answers and came across some thread, I can't find the site name now but it said to type something into the run command, and right click a driver and "mark as active" - I did that, but upon restart it said operating system not found. The laptop didn't come with any OS CDs so I had to download one to be able to reinstall windows, it wouldn't let me do startup repair, anyway - Now when restarting, it says Select an operating system, Windows 7, and Ramdisk options EMS enabled. I downloaded EasyBCD, under View settings, it says: There are a total of 2 entries listed in the bootloader. Default: Windows 7 Timeout: Skipped EasyBCD Boot Device: C:\ Entry #1 Name: Windows 7 BCD ID: {current} Drive: C:\ Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe Entry #2 Name: Windows Setup BCD ID: {7619dcc9-fafe-11d9-b411-000476eba25f} Device: [boot]\System.sav\2ndCap\boot.wim Bootloader Path: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe So I go to Edit boot menu, It has Windows 7 which is ticked as the default, and Windows Setup, I selected an option saying, Skip the boot menu, restarted the computer, but it still comes up with the 2 options. I don't really want to mess around with it without knowing what I'm doing incase I stuff things up again, is it safe to delete Windows setup, or is it possible I can skip that menu altogether? Advice needed, Thanks. |
