1249432 2011-12-20 03:30:00 So many do not like it. Nowhere near enough people have expressed displeasure for you to come to the conclusion you have.

There are currently 15,528 members of these forums and there are 56 posts in this thread so far.

And that is study of statistics, interpret numbers anyway you like. Well done. Have a smoke and celebrate.

1249433 2011-12-20 03:36:00 There has to be something wrong when Prefect starts to cough when he sees someone smoking through a telescope.

Especially considering he's a fan of FORDS :-p

1249434 2011-12-20 03:47:00 Really ?? OK heres the full story ---

So as a smoker do you think it was OK to smoke in someones house when you know full well that the normal occupants are non smokers ??

No. Not unless asked, even then I don't.

1249435 2011-12-20 03:47:00 It's not a question of logic, it is perception, and to days attitude is different to yesterday because it is fashionable to think so .

You say something that is true about maoris and there are calls of racist, the fact is it is fashionable to agree with whatever is said, right or wrong .

I would bet $1 million there would be 100 million people I have not met, or heard of, or they of me, would all agree that second hand smoke is not nice .

If I am right apart from being $1mil richer it would prove that it is not fashionable .

Would you purposely blow smoke into the face of a new born baby? Why not? Because it is a known health risk . I would challenge ANY smoker to tell me that the very first time they took that puff they said "WOW, this is so nice!, Let me have another" There are psychological, sociological and physiological reasons why people smoke . I don't really care why myself because I for some stroke of luck did not succumb to the habit, despite trying it several times .

Coffee is my habit, but unless I throw it at you, it isn't affecting you . The smell might put people off, but smelling coffee has not proven to be detrimental to anyone's health .

1249436 2011-12-20 03:51:00 Alcohol has no 2nd hand health risk to anyone else - smoking in confined spaces can have some (sure it's uncertain to what extent, but it is more than 0)
Alcohol is addictive for some people and can be very detrimental to peoples lifes and families, for those who have drinking problems I concede it is probably worse than cigarettes - Smoking kills people (this is medically proven at this point, no point living in denial) and is generally considered addictive for pretty much everyone .
Both can have unpleasant odours, but sitting near people drinking does not taint your hair and clothing like smoke does .
.

It does . They drive cars into you, they bash you and so on .

Smoking can kill you, on the other hand some people make to quite an old age first, of course, what ever they die of then is always attributed to smoking . No doubt if they are hit by a bus at the age of 75, it was because of smoking .

Alcohol kills you eventually too .

But this is not yet the fashion so it's OK .

Smoking next to someone will contaminate their clothes etc, being a smoker and being near someone and not smoking will not .

My boos is a non-smoker, several of us here smoke, he does not like the smell, but he sure doesn't try that bollocks on . He only doesn't come near outside when one of us is smoking and avoids being near directly after we return indoors . The rest of the time, no .

But I shall make a point of never coming near Chill or the other objectors again .

What I won't do is quit from nagging or price increases .

I'll cut back on something else . Food - too fat anyway .

Yep First on Race Day

You wont quit if people dont nag and you wont quit if the price decreases.
God give me strength.

1249438 2011-12-20 04:44:00 Are you an ex smoker by any chance prefect? Ive found many exsmokers are the first to complain about the smell etc. It's almost like they think they are better people than us because they gave up

BTW: Not gonna argue against the FORD for now as I have 2 motors in my garage :horrified

I do confess to being an ex smoker, but it was in the pre aids and herpes rooting days. When drink driving was a sport not a crime. My Maths teacher at Mot High used to smoke his pipe in the classroom!
I dont feel superior to a smoker at all as long as they confess to it that they are a hopeless addict. and they are aware of the putrid stench from the smoke. Hope your Ford motors didnt get scorched in your shed fire squire
